









On this trip, we practically did not even get a chance to leave Shiga prefecture. In fact, this may have been our first trip to Japan where we did not even go to Tokyo. Kyoko had some administrative affairs to handle, like renewing her passport and her driver's license, so that took up quite a bit of our time. In the US, these tasks can be easier to do because we can often do these by mail. However, in Japan, you have to go in person, and often, you have to also return to pick up the new document.
